Job Description
Dermalogica is recruiting a driven, dynamic and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. This position is for a candidate that thrives in a rewarding yet high-paced, deadline-driven environment, which serves as a support department to the broader business.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- ERP system module maintenance
- Gl, AR, AP, CB, Inventory
- Prepare Weekly Cash forecasts ahead of payment cycles.
- Accounts Payable
- Assist with reconciliation for suppliers.
- Review payment files for release
- Lead a procurement project of streamlining of suppliers and process.
- Lead a project to implement an automated PO process.
- Ensure that allocations on payments and Gl transactions are accurate and in line with budgeted items.
- Accounts Receivable
- Review Age analysis and manage customer payments in accordance with payment terms.
- Be the escalation point for customer queries and resolutions.
- Manage rebates and discount tables.
- Review Stores Petty Cash Recon review and replenishments
- Review Pay cards recon and replenishments.
- Manage the Transactional Bank accounts and 3rd party merchant providers and payment gateway for ECOM.
- Cash Book
- Ensure that all bank accounts are reconciled on a weekly basis.
- Debit order’s validated and checked against support.
- Credit Card statements are captured and reconciled.
- GL
- Ensure that the account mappings are maintained.
- Ensure that the Gl’s are being correctly utilised and that allocations are in line with Budgets.
- Preparation of Monthly Accruals on Day 1 for expenses and reconciliation and release thereafter
- Prepaid expenses management and reconciliation
- Management of System accounts and Nil accounts
- Unallocated Receipts and deposits
- GRN accrual account.
- Forced balance system account.
- Sub module to Gl reconciliations
- Statutory
- Ensure that we are compliant in all statutory aspects (CIPC, SARS, Customs, etc)
- Submit and prepare the VAT 201, EMP 201 monthly.
- Manage correspondence with these agencies.
- Reporting
- Assist the FM with the preparation of Management accounts.
- Prepare and execute balance Sheet recons.
- Ensure that feedback on Pack actions is closed out with the team and the entity.
- Ad hoc reporting will be required as per business and department needs.
Qualifications
- BCOM accounting + articles (Preferable)
Experience required:
- 5 + years in an accountant position and in a team environment
- Retail background and experience
- Syspro (Preferable)
- EXCEL (advanced) and Microsoft suite
- BI experience (Cognos, Power BI, ODBC)

Work Environment:
- This role is based out of our Johannesburg office in Parktown and reports directly to the Finance Manager.
